Summary\n
This paper allows to provide a more accurate definition of the Latin grammar rule regarding the usage of the prepositions with placenames to denote direction to a place. Although the common opinion is that no preposition are to be used with names of towns and small islands, I argue that this rule works only with town-names. The argument is proved by the analysis of passages from Pliny the Elder's Natural History where Pliny mentions islands and towns bearing the same name.
