В статье высказана гипотеза о знакомстве автора «Плавания св. Брендана» с текстом византийского апокрифа «Сказание отца нашего Агапия», памятника, предположительно, зоны сиро-палестин- ского монашества 4–6 вв. Автор предлагает интерпретировать неко- торые отрывки латинского текста «Плавания» (события до отправ- ления св. Брендана в путь; описание монастыря последователей св. Албея; Земли, обетованной святым) как возможные свидетельства влияния восточного апокрифа. Если это предположение верно, получит уточнение генезис отдельных мотивов «Плавания», сам текст«Плавания» станет свидетельством знакомства кельтского мира с сюжетом «Сказания Агапия», и таким образом в дискуссию о связях Ирландии с восточнохристианским ареалом и, особенно, с Сирией будет введен новый источник.
