Summary\n
The article discusses the Ancient Indian perception of time, partly based on the properties of the archaic mythological thought, and therefore inherent to other traditional cultures (both Eastern or Western), and partly distinctive and uniquely reflecting the specific Indian look on the world order. Basing on fragments of «Mahabharata», some of the characteristics of Sanskrit text composition and grammar usage are singled out; also, the lexical data demonstrates the different values of specific compounds within polysemic lexical units.
