Summary\n: The article describes how Socrates was mentioned in “The Martyrdom of Apollonius”, “The Martyrdom of Pionius” and “The Acts of Phileas”. The aim of the article is to analyze relationship between these references and other early Christian texts in the context of the controversy about the figure of Socrates in the II–IV centuries and of the actual practice of law. Perhaps the references of Socrates and faith in their effectiveness resulted from the acquaintance with the ancient rhetorical tradition.
