Summary\n

The present paper concerns the co-occurrence of consonants in the auslaut position of the PIE roots. According to a wide-spread assumption, the PIE root didn’t cross the right syllable border so that its sounds were arranged according to the sonority hierarchy. The root auslaut sonority sequencing is crucial for the study of the PIE root extensions since the phonotactic rules could determine which of the extensions were preserved within the root structure after the collapse of the older morphology to which these extensions originally belonged.
