Summary\n
The article analizes the early works of the first Yakut poet A. E. Kulakovsky – his school essay on Pushkin and workbooks on classical philology, dated 1896. The material under consideration shows that long before the emergence of his first literary texts in early 20th century, A. E. Kulakovsky seriously studied foreign literary traditions and Ancient literature. A wide range of semantically connected concepts attracted attention of the young poet, such as poetic talent, poetic diction, poetic word, mission of the singer/poet, first works of the poet, poetic glory. The reflections of a would-be poet on these problems reveal the prosess of him forming his own understanding of «foreign» poetic tradition in its connection with the idea of creation of the national Yakut literature as a written system, different from the oral tradition.
