The paper is dedicated to the important fundamental aspect of the epicurean philosophy – the concept of void. While creating the Latin philosophical terminology Lucretius was guided by the word usage of Epicurus. That is why the term “void” in the poem De Rerum Natura should be analysed in comparison with the Greek archetypes. The article researches the usage of the term inane “void”. An analysis of Lucretius’ method of term-creating is made.
