The purpose of this contribution is to offer novel etymologies for several Greek words, whose origin is labeled unknown in the recent Etymological Dictionary of Greek by Robert Beekes (ἄτερπνος,  φυσγετός, εἱαμενή, ἕστωρ, κόπις, κρημνός, πηρός, χρόνος).
