A. M. Malomud. Formulaic expressions in Theriaca of Nicander of Colophon (pp. 604–609)
Author
A. M. Malomud (Lomonosov Moscow State University)
Keywords\n Nicander of Colophon, Theriaca, formula
Pages\n 604–609
Summary\n
The paper deals with repeated expressions in Theriaca of Nicander which resemble Homeric formulas. It was established that nearly all expressions created by Nicander are liable to variation. The author suggests that a distinction should be made between two kinds of variation – one caused by metrical conditions and typical for Homeric diction, and the other resulting from the tendency to stylistic diversity.
